Medical School Interview
The interview was held at Mercy college in Dobbs Ferry, north of New York City. There were 7 people on the interview panel. Among them were Dr Stan Wiktor, in charge of admissions and Andrew Wiktor, in charge of finacial aid.
They asked me various questions. The obvious one being why you want to be a doctor. Also one lady asked me did I want to be a doctor when I was in college. I was asked how many languages I knew, whether my parents were ok with my decision to go away from home to study. Was I in a serious relationship with someone. Had I ever had any psychological problems. Did I take drugs or had any history of drug abuse.
I was given a chance ask some questions. I asked whether the tuition was going to be raised or not. They said not for American & Canadian students, yes for EU & Polish students. What percentage of students finished in four years and went on to residency? He said 90%. Offcourse their numbers need to b taken with a grain of salt until it's independently verified.
After the interview Stan asked me to wait outside the interview room so that the panel could discuss and make a decision. I was outside for barely 5 minutes and Stan called me in to tell me that they had accepted my application. Stan said that a formal letter of acceptance will be sent out & $500 deposit (payable towards tuition) will be required 2 weeks after receiving letter.
I was sent upstairs to sign paperwork regarding drug policy, housing, financial aid etc. They gave me a school brochure, video of school, booklet with previous graduates, & master promisory note (MPN) for Stafford loans. After all the paperwork I left Mercy college.
